youth sailing advanced course (12-17 years)

This course is for advanced dinghy sailors to master advanced techniques.

Previous knowledge/requirements

The participants are expected to be able to safely perform the following maneuvers on a small dinghy (e.g. RS Feva, 420) in wind speeds of up to 4: tacking, gybing, tacking (upwind and downwind), launching and righting after Capsize. Plus have basic knowledge of gennaker sailing.

Young people who are not bound to the german school holidays may have the opportunity to take part in the dinghy/cat advanced course  with appropriate previous knowledge - please contact us

duration Monday to Friday, half-day
course schedule

On Monday at 10 a.m. the jetty, area and boat briefing will take place for all sailing sailors (approx. 1.5 hours). The advanced course then meets daily at 2:30 p.m. Depending on the group and wind conditions, practical training sessions, theory, dry runs and longer strokes alternate until 6 p.m. On Thursday afternoon there will be a longer flotilla excursion to one of the beautiful bays in the Formentor area. The highlight and conclusion of the regatta for the “Pollensa Racing Cup” will take place on Friday afternoon. The full-day sailors go recreational sailing under supervision in the morning or can also take part in the exercises of the transition course.

IMPORTANT: The youth sailing training course preferably takes place in the afternoon due to the stronger wind conditions. However, changes to the course schedule are possible or necessary due to weather conditions or the number of participants.

course content The course content is adapted to the level of knowledge of the sailors and the wind conditions. Optimization of maneuver sequences, boat control, sail, weight and rig trim, gennaker sailing, helmsman's trapeze, starting exercises.
recommended clothing and sailing/surfing equipment

Neoprene shoes must be worn due to the risk of injury. We recommend a long wetsuit from September to June plus surf fleece (long-sleeved shirt with thermal protection) on cold days. In July, August and warm September and June days, a short wetsuit and/or UV shirt. Plus sailing gloves, glasses strap and sunscreen with a high SPF.
