The Hobie 16 was unleashed on the Southern California beach scene in 1970 and sailing was instantly transformed. The catamaran’s lightweight, asymmetrical fiberglass hulls provide lift and its dual-trapeze rig lets you and your crew member harness its sheer power.

SKILLS TO RENT
 
The boat skipper is expected to safely perform the following maneuvers on an Hobie 16 or similar in winds up to 4 Bft / 20 Kn:
  • Tack
  • Gybe
  • Beat upwind
  • Head into the wind
  • Trapezing
  • Drifting downwind
  • Right up after capsizing
In winds of more than 20 knots or other difficult weather conditions, we expect appropiate knowledge and experience for these conditions.
